Smooth Criminal (MJ version)

First things first – my baby girl and best friend LIZ McGORY guessed my one blog post entry title song correctly. IT WAS ABBA! Natch. I love Mama Mia.

Now onto the good stuff. Not that you aren’t good Liz, I luff u. But… THREAD’S NEXT ISSUE COMES OUT ON TUESDAY!!! I’m excited, you’re excited, we’re all excited, hey! That reminds me of “I’m a dude, your a dude, she’s a dude, we’re all dudes, hey!” Was that “All That” or “The Keenan and Kel Show?” My old brain can’t remember the classic Nickelodeon shows. *Tear* Becky and I wrote a feature about international fashionz so you all need to check it out next week!

Anyway this week was going to be more girly fashions but today I wore one of my future intern outfits for New York City this summer! So Matt was like, “Is this dressed to impress week?” and I was like… sure? YEAH! So this is dressed to impress week. Except my only class got canceled tomorrow (hehehe, I’m laughing evilly) which means somebody is going out tonight (this girl *points to chest*) and I probably won’t wake up until the afternoon. So I might dress to impress tomorrow but I probably won’t impress anyone if I go to the library at 3 p.m. looking super cute on a Friday. WELL HERE’S WHAT I WORE TODAY:

WINNER! WINNER! WINNER! That's what this pop-up on my computer said. I promise I wasn't looking at porn or anything.

Other than my shiny skin (I really need to invest in some new foundation/concealer or some sort of make-up that I don’t normally wear), I am looking pretty superb! Did you all notice my hair cut and dye job? My sistah Sarah dyed it blonde (blond? My computer says blond but I say blonde. This is not relevant)… uh, Sarah dyed it this past weekend and my hair turned into a nice honey brown. So buttery brown~* (inside joke for Matt Anderson who actually looks at my blog but only to look at the photos he takes of me, not the actual words. THANKS ROOMMATE AND BEST FRIEND). And then yesterday I randomly decided to get it cut. My hair was at that length where I couldn’t put it in a pony tail without 3,390 bobby pins and if I wore it down and I got sweaty it would be gross and ugly. And this summer I don’t want to worry about ugly hair so I got it chopped off. AND MY BROWS WAXED! I just felt so nice today. I really like my hairz.

Everything I am wearing here is from Target. (No, dad, I didn’t buy the clothes for the blog. I bought the clothes for New York and this might be my first day of work outfit! When I have to go to my orientation at Rockefeller Center I will wear something more profesh. Love you!). Tank top, skirt, shoes. Target.

BONUS JONAS. I mean, bonus photo.

Here I am wearing a white cardigan from Target. This is so I can wear a tank top outside when it’s hot but grab a little cover up for when I’m inside the office working. I am just so versatile and trendy! The floral print is in (except my skirt is kind of paisley), the strappy sandals are in and the gray tank top and white cardigan are classic staples for any wardrobe. That’s my advice for the year – buy simple clothes but one piece that is wilder. Like my “wild” skirt works perfectly with a gray tank/white sweater combo and black strappy sandals. NEW YORK HERE I COME! Oh and look at my cool ring:

Nobody has commented on my awesome silver nail polish. I seriously thought I would get more compliments or attention... thanks a lot guys.

It’s a bird, tweet tweet! And it goes over two fingers. How “in!”

Rando Fact of the Day: I ate lunch at Applebee’s with my little Kyle (SHOUT OUT) and Matt today. I had two apple margaritas, blended, with salt. Mmm, so delish. And then I came home and took a nap. I was going to skip class at 5 but I checked my e-mail and (like I said earlier) my one class (at 8 a.m.) tomorrow was canceled so I decided to go to oceanography. We learned about sharks and stuff. The fact in all of this is my favorite drink of the moment is apple margaritas and the blue whale is 100 feet long.

Whatever it takes! I know I can make it through!

I'm watching Degrassi right now. I would totally be more popular than Paige Michalchuk. Yes, I had to IMDB how to spell her last name.

As you can see, this is just a redo of the outfit I wore earlier in the week. I was hot and gross in my blazer so I changed into a purple sweater and different jeans and flippy floppies. Well actually my flats gave me a HUGE blister on my foot and I had to walk home barefoot in the rain on Wednesday. Oh wait, I said that last week. NOT DELETING THIS. I meant to post this picture on Thursday. *Fail*

So this weekend I continued my girly looks when I went home to Cincinnati! It was really hot outside on Friday when I wore this next outfit but I didn’t shave my legs so I had to wear leggings. Meh.

Hanging out at UC. As you can see, the boys there are CREEPS. Jared and Katie - I hope you read this. MiSSiN u* aLreADy~* (Miss you too, Sarah, Jackie and Jill. And Sarah and Casey).

We went to Bar Louie and I drank a margarita, ate a salad and then nomed on Cold Stone afterward. Nom nom nom. I know it’s not really that girly but I’m wearing a dress! And a necklace!

“I’m taking my classes online, getting my degree on my own time. Education connection matched me with the right college for free. Get connected, for free! With education connection!”

The girl legit looks like me. Short brown hair, V-neck shirt, skinny jeans and chucks. And I sing (PERFECTLY IN TUNE) all the time, so I’m not sure why I wasn’t in this commercial. “This commercial would be on The N” so says Matt Anderson. “Well, it’s Teen Nick now.” “SEE YOU AT THE LGBT MIXER! That’s what it said on the sign!” Matt said this and giggled. I hope he knows I’m typing down everything he says as we watch Degrassi. Riley is struggling with the fact that he is gay. Classic Degrassi material.

Anyway I went shopping this weekend at Target for some new clothes for New York City this summer! Basically some cute skirts and dresses to wear because it is going to be 908,290 degrees outside. They are really cute, work appropriate and pretty girly if I do say so myself. I think I might wear my new work clothes and continue my girly looks this week…

“There are a lot of heteros up there, you can pretend to be one of us,” said Peter (Degrassi character). TERRIBLE ADVICE PETER! Let Riley be himself. OMG this LGBT Mixer is crazy – lots of glow sticks and techno music. There’s the Hot Asian wearing a tight purple V-neck. RILEY IS TALKING TO HIM! Hot Asian won’t out him… but he said he didn’t come out in preschool (huh?) and then he asked Riley to dance. I think Hot Asian’s name is Zane. ZANE.

Rando Fact of the Day: I love Degrassi. Currently my favorite boy character is Sav… or Peter. Peter did meth one weekend and almost relapsed in last weekend’s episode. Sav has to marry a Muslim girl but is still in love with Anya, who is white. My favorite girl character is Holly J. She’s an abrasive bitch but owns it. Love her. And her relationship with her boyfriend, Declan. There is a boy who bags groceries at Kroger who looks like Declan. Declan 🙂

Edit – I do the same pose a lot. Riley just asked Zane on a date. Nice. AND RILEY JUST KISSED HIM. Oh, Riley… never smile again.

Does it feel the same when she calls your name?

I haven’t turned on my music yet so I’m going to choose whichever song comes first on shuffle for my entry title. Then I am not going to say what song it is but everyone can guess (AKA COMMENT!) and then the person who wins will get a shout out? That’s making me look more important than I actually am…

Yesterday I wore a T-shirt, sweatshirt,  jeans and Converse high tops because it was rainy and crappy outside. Well today I got cute and ready and straightened my hair and stepped outside and it was humid and terrible. And then I walked home around 12:45 and it was pouring! I had a huge blister from my shoes so I had to walk home barefoot. I will probably get an STD or cancer or something from the dirty Mill Street water. Bleh.

Pat: "You're a really great model!" Me: "Thanks, I try." Pat: "I was talking about Matt." FAIL.

Oh, hey there Zac Efron! I didn't see you standing there.

Express cotton blazer. Target tank top. Anne Klein flats. American Eagle Jeans. Forever 21 headband. That is it. The end.

KIDDING, FRIENDS! I think this would have been a great outfit except it’s not very “girly” and as soon as I got home this afternoon I changed into shorts. But I promise that I’ve been trying to wear girlier outfits! I even researched girly outfits by… now don’t make fun of me… but I researched by going to a doll dressing website. Yes, those websites were 10-year-old girls can put clothes on dolls and change their make up and stuff. I really needed some inspiration, okay! Anyway, it was actually kind of fun, like “Cute Chinese Girl and Room” was a fun one (even though there was some rather offensive music in the background). I did “Gorgeous Girl Make Over,” where I was surprised to not see my face there. And then my favorite, the Kristen Stewart make over. She had the scowl and everything!! And I thought it was bad enough that I got to choose her foundation color, etc. but also her accessories. And by accessories I mean TEETH BITES or a BLOODY MOUTH. For real! I chose both, obviously.

Before: Boring, generic Bella Swan.

After: Bella Cullen, vamp(ire).

And on that note I think it’s time to end this post. RANDO FACT OF THE DAY: I read all of the Twilight books. Did I hate them? No. Would I recommend them to readers my age? Definitely not.

Don’t take my heart and put it on shelf.

I will give $25 to whomever knows the song in which the entry title refers. Except I don’t care if you know or not! HA! It’s the Jonas Brothers. That’s embarrassing.

Today I was bored in class so I wrote my blog by hand again. However, I needed to change some things around but here is an excerpt from what I wrote this morning:

“Talking about bugs in Media Relations. Why would someone care about a bug exhibit? Are they really big? Are the dead or alive? Are they endangered? Are they poisonous and kill you with one bite? We’ve been talking about why bugs could be interesting for at least 15 minutes. Bugs suck. Ew.”

There you go, my interesting notes I took during class. I’m not lying either. But I do apologize that I made you all read that… I had to write something during class before I fell asleep or barfed. Barf is a weird word. Cool story bro…

So week seven is going to be about giRLy* fashions. I’ve been talking about doing girly looks for like, three weeks now, so it’s time. Today I wore pink and was very girly.

Wearing pink and black... straight out of an Avril Lavigne song.

It was chilly this morning so I had to throw on the black tights, but I like it. And I love my flower/bow thing in my hair! It’s so presh. So I like that my dress is pink and long and cute! And I got some compliments and overall felt comfortable and confident. I wish I had like floral tights or something, that could have made the outfit MORE girly! I already have some outfits picked out for the rest of the week so I promise I will actually blog this week.

Well now I’m going to do a new thing at the end of each post, like tell you all a random fact about myself. Here we go! RANDO FACT OF DA DAY: I have a pink Blackberry. I dropped it at least four times this weekend. SORRY, DAD!

He’s the reason for the teardrops on my guitar.

Yes, I listen to Taylor Swift. End of discussion.

Okay, I know, I know. I haven’t blogged since last Monday. I bet you’re all thinking, “You’re lazy, Amanda! You suck, Amanda! I’m going to stop reading your blog, Amanda!” WELL STOP WITH THE THIRD DEGREE, PEOPLE! Oh wait, I’m probably being harder on myself than any of you are. Except I just got off the phone with my mom and she was like, you haven’t blogged in a week. Oops 🙂 (Ew, Word Press is going to put an ugly smiley there but I have been avoiding using smileys for so long, it’s time to use one. And my mommy deserves a smiley).

So nautical fashionz was hard for me. My problem is that I am not going above and beyond. Like, I wish I owned a T-shirt with a huge anchor on the front, wide tan linen pants, red patent wedges and rope bracelets. THAT (as gaudy as it sounds) is what I want to be doing. Well I did try it once more, last Wednesday…

Ohhh. Ugh. Denim on denim. *Shiver* When a word is in between two asterisks, that means I'm doing that thing. I'm literally shivering right now. See, I'm teaching you all some cool iNtErNeTz* lingo!

Aimee told me that light denim on dark denim is “in” and that Mary-Kate Olsen wore it once. And I’m like, MKO is 3’8″, rich and looks like a frog. (Is that libel? I should know, I got an A in Comm. Law. Yes, I’m trying to brag about that). And I’m 5’8″, a poor college student and GORGEOUS! So obviously this look wasn’t going to be the same for me. But all jokes aside (gasp) and even though denim on denim sounds gross on paper, I actually felt kind of cute and stuff. And I still love my Ked-like shoes from Urban.

So at the end of the day I sucked at blogging last week and didn’t feel very inspired by nautical stuff. DEAL WITH IT. But at least I know what I should have worn. And now I will be better for this week… 🙂

FFFFF I hate those smileys.

Center of Attention

I’m listening to “Center of Attention” by Guster as I blog this. How appropriate. Anyway, I’ve got about an hour before I go to Applebee’s with two of my roommates so I thought I’d go ahead add another post today! Applebee’s has the best apple margaritas evahhh. I can’t wait to drink one, mmm.

So this week’s theme is going to be nautical. Oooooh. Ahhhhh. I’m sure that’s what you’re all saying. I researched some nautical-inspired fashions online (I KNOW! Again, this blog is like legit now) and ELLE told me to buy a $6,000 Hermes leather shoulder bag (that wasn’t that cute), a $1,625 Chanel bracelet (that looked like it was made of cheap plastic) and a $33,000 Rolex watch! Uhhh, no thanks. How am I supposed to afford all of these things? OH WAIT! This blog is about me being inspired by these inspirations (that sounded dumb… inspired by inspirations), so I need to be crafty. According to the sites that I researched, I need things that are red, white, have stripes, rope, chains and anchors. And fishies. Uh duhhhh.

So today I wore a cheap (well, not cheap, I’m not POOR okay!) an inexpensive nautical themed outfit.

Look at this cute girl, ready to go clam hunting!

Clam hunting? Clam digging? Who looks for clams anyway unless you’re the stars of “The Deadliest Catch?” I think they catch lobster. WHATEVAH. So this photo was taken by Ben (yes, the same Ben who was called white trash by Pat in the previous entry and the same Ben whose head I stared at a few weeks ago) before our media relations class (except not really because I didn’t have to go until 11 and this was taken at 10. Grrr). I tried a few poses but that freaking horizontal striped shirt made me look wide. *tear* So I had to do this side pose thing so I could hold my ribs and you could all see that I can wrap my hand around my torso. From that angle this shirt makes my boobies look big, ‘sup fellaz? (That was two boob comments in two posts. NO MORE).

Anyway… as you all may know, that is my roommate Matt’s shirt (I did not ask permission, good thing he doesn’t read my blog! Ass. Again good thing he doesn’t read my blog because I called him an ass for not reading it!). It is red striped, just like a pirate or a person who lives in Boston and goes boating. Or something. Those are my new~* boyfriend fit jeans from American Eagle (I know it’s kind of a juvenile brand, but they had a buy one, get one half off sale and so I got two pairs of jeans for $60!) and my new~* shoes from Urban Outfitters. I swear, I look like I should be shell collecting on the beaches of Nantucket (is that place real or just a fairy tale?) and eating crab for dinner.

Other than the fact that I was kind of sweaty from the humidity this morning, I love love love those jeans. And I might have a blister on my heel (no support at all with those shoes) but that’s okay! I felt very cute and like I belonged on the eastern shores of the… United States. (Haha. That was the first joke I actually laughed out loud after typing. Except it isn’t really a joke because technically I would fit right in on the eastern shores of the U.S.). But right now I’m looking at my closet and realizing that I don’t own much nautical-esque clothing. So this week will be a challenge but a fun challenge! Are challenges ever fun? Seriously, who looks forward to a “good challenge” unless you’re trying to look impressive? If you like a challenge, you’re lying. LIARS!

“You think I’m trashy, you think I’m white trash!”

That is a quote from the conversation I’m listening to right now (between Pat and Ben) in the Front Room because apparently I don’t have to go to Media Relations until 11. INSERT EXPLETIVE HERE. (Pat had to sit here and tell me what word to use, how to use it and how to spell it for a good two minutes before I wrote “expletive”). INSERT ANOTHER EXPLETIVE HERE.

I’ve been slacking with my updating again, sorry readers! This week I will be better about updating. Last week was crazy because of exams (okay, 1 exam), homework and the release of the magazine! I know you all read it and enjoyed my story about men’s fashion. If not it’s on page 32, read it now.

So last Thursday I wore an outfit that I deemed “girly on bottom, manly on top.” Well not exactly manly but like, “boyfriend-like.” Whatever, take a look.

The Panda's ears are kind of on my boobs but not really so I promise I have a normal chest.

As you can see, the top part of my body is kind of boyfriend-like and the bottom half of my body is girly with my tight, rolled-up jeans and pointy flats. So I really loved this outfit. A LOT. My boyfriend blazer was a Christmas gift (but it’s from Urban), I bought the Panda shirt from Redd Flock (yay me supporting local Athens’ stores!), my jeans are American Eagle and my flats are from Target. And as you can see I’ve painted my nails. When I cut my hair really short (way shorter than it is now) I told myself that I would have my nails painted at all times, so I still looked girly. But this quarter I’ve been lazy and such, but I finally painted them! They aren’t black, they are dark PURPLE!! I love purple. It’s my favorite color right now. Yes, my favorite color changes. Most recently it was green but now it’s purple. Before that it was red.

AH! Anyway. I felt really comfortable and happy all day in that outfit. And my lovely freshman roommate KATELYNN took this photo of me. Any photo of me that has been taken or will be taken in Scripps’ basement has been taken by Katelynn. (THERE’S YOUR PLUG. JK, love you). So this little paragraph is for my friend Emmy because she likes when I say what I liked/didn’t like about my outfit. What I liked: I was comfortable, I felt cute and confident (of course) and I was able to wear black without wearing all black. Plus the panda shirt like, supports animals or something (World Wildlife Fund).

I support endangered animals.
